1. CALLING vs. Compensation
(Acts 20:24 NIV) … I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

2. CONTENTMENT vs. consumerism
(Luke 12:15 TLB) … Don’t always be wishing for what you don’t have. For real life and real living are not related to how rich we are.

(Philippians 4:12 NIV) I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

3. GOD DEPENDENT vs independent
(Proverbs 18:11 NLT) The rich think of their wealth as a strong defense; they imagine it to be a high wall of safety. – – -> you think you can protect yourself

(Proverbs 30:8-9 NLT) . . . give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the LORD?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.

4. STEWARDSHIP vs Ownership
(Matthew 6:19-20 NIV) “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

5. GENEROSITY vs misery
(Acts 20:35 NIV) … the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ “
