(Isaiah 11:1-2 NLT) Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot— yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

√ The Honor DEFICIT. –  Our FAILURE to value to the degree God values.

√  Honoring begins with GOD’S CLAIM on them.  *deficit is YOUR PRIDE
(Ephesians 5:21 NLT) Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

√ Honoring BENEFITS ME too.  my not honoring shows as LACK IN MY LIFE.
(Ephesians 6:2-3 NLT) “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”

√ Honoring is DECIDED not deserved.
(1 Peter 2:13-15 NLT) For the Lord’s sake, respect all human authority—whether the king as head of state, … your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people

HOW DO I HONOR?

1. PRIORITIZE it!  What ever is FIRST is honored.  OTHERS GO FIRST!(Proverbs 3:9 NKJV) Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase;

2. PRAISE it! Our WORDS either honor or dishonor
(James 3:9-10 NLT) Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!

(Ephesians 4:29-30 NKJV) Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption

3. PROTECT it!  The more you VALUE it, the more you value from it. –> PLACE VALUE ON IT

(Genesis 9:21-23) …and backed into the tent to cover their father.

DEFEND PUBLICLY — CORRECT PRIVATELY

(John 7:18 NLT) Those who speak for themselves want glory only for themselves, but a person who seeks to honor the one who sent him speaks truth, not lies.
