(James 3:13 NLT) If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.
1. God likes THEM MORE.
(James 3:14-16 NLT) 14 But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying.
(James 4:1-3 NLT) … 2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them.
2. The world is MORE SATISFYING.
(James 4:4-9 NLT) 4 You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? …8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
3. Others are WORSE THAN ME.
(James 4:11-12 NLT) 11 Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. …12 God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?
4. My plans ARE BEST.
(James 4:13-16 NLT) … 14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog–it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. 15 What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”
√ God is GOOD.
(Romans 12:2 NLT) …Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
√ God is ETERNAL.
(Ephesians 1:4 NLT) 4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
√ God is FAITHFUL.
(Hebrews 10:23 NLT) 23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
