Series SCRIPTURE
(Proverbs 18:14 NLT) The human spirit can endure a sick body, but who can bear a crushed spirit?(Psalm 42:3-5 NLT) Day and night I have only tears for food, while my enemies continually taunt me, saying, “Where is this God of yours?” My heart is breaking as I remember how it used to be: I walked among the crowds of worshipers, leading a great procession to the house of God, singing for joy and giving thanks amid the sound of a great celebration! Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!

Five MYTHS OF UNFORGIVENESS

√  If I don’t show it or say it, it will go away.
(Hebrews 4:12-13 NLT) …..and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 ………, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

√  It’s down playing my wound.

√  It’s reconciliation.

√  It’s forgetting what happened.

√  It’s forfeiting power.
(2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NLT) “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me…. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

A New Perspective of Forgiveness. (A change of thinking)

√ The Crucified life perspective.
(Matthew 16:24-25 NLT) … you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.

(Matthew 6:14-15 NLT) “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

(Colossians 3:11-14 NLT) In this new life, ….. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us. …. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

√ The Impossible Debt perspective.
(Matthew 18:21-35 NLT) Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven! “Therefore, the Kingdom of Heaven can be compared to a king who decided to bring his accounts up to date with servants…“That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.” 490x day, $10 million vs. $10k

√ The Undeserving perspective.

(Isaiah 1:18-19 NLT)“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow.  Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool. If you will only obey me ….

(Psalm 25:6-11 NLT) Remember, O LORD, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O LORD…. For the honor of your name, O LORD, forgive my many, many sins.
